Job Description
The Komali Assistant Restaurant Manager is someone who is passionate about food and customer service. They are a problem solver with a strong work ethic and leadership skills. The Assistant Restaurant Manager understands that customer satisfaction always takes priority but efficient restaurant operations make it possible. They maintain the highest level of personal and professional integrity to set an example for the staff, and show a keen interest in the development and advancement of employees. They are an experienced leader with a goal to move up in the management field.

 

Responsibilities

The Komali Experience

  • Create a positive guest experience by delivering a high level of service and ensuring that the staff understands the needs of guests and exceeds their expectations
  • Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests
  • Solicit guest feedback to understand the needs and wants of customers
  • Assist in any areas of the restaurant when staffing constraints require

Leadership

  • Identify and delegate responsibilities to shift leaders and staff to ensure objectives are met and excellent service is consistently achieved
  • Implement new company policies and procedures by developing plans and instructing staff on their implementation
  • Consistently review operations and staff to identify any problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide coaching and feedback to staff and assess performance on an ongoing basis
  • Train and coach staff on guest services principles and practices

Operations

  • Effectively manage the restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager
  • Manage operations with passion, integrity, and knowledge while promoting the culture and values of Komali
  • Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards
  • Consistently monitor product and labor costs to remain within goals
  • Follow Komali Restaurant policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety/security
  • Assist in new menu implementation
  • Assist in conducting staff and pre-shift meetings
  • Prepare schedules and ensure that the restaurant is staffed for all shifts

Industry Standards & Requirements

  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensure compliance with TABC ordinances, operational standards, company policies, and federal/state/local laws
  • Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience: Prior restaurant management experience or equivalent
  • Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have proficient computer skills
  • Able to use touch-sensitive POS System
  • Able to lift minimum of 10 lbs.
  • Able to work in a high-temperature kitchen for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to take direction and delegate responsibilities
  • Must be able to promote and foster a team environment
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
