Emanuel Salinas, Owner
Emanuel Salinas was born in Mexico City as the youngest of nine children. His family moved to Acapulco (in the Mexican state of Guerrero) when he was three years old. As a child, Emanuel was often at his mother’s side in the kitchen, where he learned to appreciate the tastes and traditions of his mother’s cooking.
At age 24, Emanuel set out to the United States to make a better life for himself. Starting work as a dishwasher, Emanuel learned English, enrolled in community college and worked his way up to managing restaurants in the San Francisco Castro district. Emanuel also earned his accounting degree at the University of San Francisco.
Throughout the years, Emanuel has desired to bring the fresh, authentic and contemporary tastes of Mexico to a larger audience. Now an experienced restaurateur, Emanuel has teamed up with head chef Geovanny Arredondo to build upon the the smashing success of Komali and take it to a whole new level.
